Silent Night

We saw snow one week in January of 2025. Wilmington doesn’t get snow, and we got 8 inches. We don’t get much quiet around here, either; it’s a small city, but it’s bursting at the seams with people. The snow falls under the parking lot lights, which are in abundance, because Wilmington has an excessive amount of parking lots. It’s beautiful. While the city sleeps, its cars and mailboxes are graced with gentle snowfall. The streets go untouched for two days while cars stay parked at home. Day breaks and we venture through the icy slush for cappuccinos. In some noticeable way, we are changed.
